Rights and public-domain statement

MRM Library publishes works that are in the public domain, and works shared with the author’s permission. Every section’s Markdown frontmatter records rights.status, rights.basis and rights.source, and every page shows the same information.

The United States rule applied here (as of 2026): works published in 1930 or earlier are in the public domain (95 years). Nothing published later is included without the author’s explicit permission, and the build refuses a public-domain work whose publication year is after 1930.

For works marked public-domain, the basis is stated per work (for example, publication in the United States long enough ago that copyright has expired). The transcription of such a text is a faithful reproduction of the public-domain edition named in the work’s source; no later, separately copyrighted edition, heading, footnote or annotation is incorporated. We mark public-domain works with the Creative Commons Public Domain Mark in the page’s structured data. This is not legal advice; if you believe something here is published in error, please say so.
