# Priesthood Quorums

<!-- page:376 -->

(Priesthood Quorums (All matters pertaining to the Aaronic Priesthood, presented under this heading, are prepared under direction of the Presiding Bishopric) New Texts of Study Should be Adopted Since the October conference, members of stake high councils appointed to look after the Aaronic Priesthood, together with bishops of wards, have been urged to have the quorums of the Priesthood fully organized and ready to begin the 1927 work on the first of the year. One month of the year 1927 has now passed and we are somewhat dis- appointed in the number of orders received at the Deseret Book Company, for Aaronic Priesthood courses of study for the year 1927. This may be caused through the desire on the part of ward authorities to finish the 1926 work before taking up that provided for 1927. Fearing that this condition exists, we take this opportunity to remind all interested in the work of the Aaronic Priesthood, especially parents who have boys who should be actively engaged in this work, that it is important that each Priest, Teacher, and Deacon should commence on the work pro- vided, in order that the work outlined may be completed in time to take up the work which will be provided for 1928. Delays may prevent the com- pletion of the work this year, causing some important work to be neglected or making it necessary to encroach upon the next year's work. There- fore, in order to promote uniformity in the lesson work of the Aaronic Priesthood generally the new lessons should be undertaken at once, even though the last year's courses may not have been completed. We urge bishops and all concerned to secure the necessary outlines, which may be purchased at the Deseret Book Company for 10c each for the Teachers, and the Deacons, and 15c for the Priests, sent postpaid upon receipt of the money. Central Park Ward Priesthood Attendance Contest The Central Park ward of the Grant stake held a Priesthood at- tendance contest between the Melchizedek and Aaronic Priesthood members during the whole month of November. The losers were to banquet the winners, and the result was that the fathers furnished the banquet. The boys were very enthusiastic; and, in order to win, were successful in securing the attendance of adult members of the Lesser Priesthood. The result was that the bishop has since been able to ordain eight older men holding the Aaronic Priesthood to the office of Elder. The Grant stake Aaronic Priesthood committee, and the ward committee supervisors cooperated in pro- moting this contest. The average attendance during the month of November of the Aaronic Priesthood of the Central Park ward was 90% of the total enrollment, and this high average has continued during the months of December and January. Changes in Officers A change in the Morgan stake presidency was effected in December. George Sylvester Heiner was sustained as first counselor, and Edward H. Anderson, Jr., as second counselor in the stake presidency, and the latter re- leased as high councilor. • In Cedar Third ward, Parowan stake, Walter K. Granger was appointed bishop of the new ward. Manila branch, Lyman stake, was changed to a ward, with Peter G. Wall, bishop, Manila, Utah. A new mission president, Willard L. Smith, of the Samoan mission succeeded Ernest LeRoy Butler.
